The reason I was thinking of using the handle fixings is that most handles can have both ends electrically isolated and most are as the middle part is often made of plastic or the swivels are plastic washers so that the contact would be with only the screw heads. Look at the construction of the handle and see.
Once you get it right you should have two arms with contacts that hold the set as if it is being carried.
That toothbrush has two diodes that rectify the AC from the two halves of the coil. It is full wave.
