I'm afraid it's just not grief with old cars either. A couple of weeks back my 8 year old owned from new with FDSH Nissan X Trail (over those eight years suffering boost sensor recall, faulty alarm modules, fuel filters that freeze up when it gets cold, a replacement intercooler, sticky rear fuel pump operation, a dealership service centre that stated that after four years the rear shocks were shot but another dealer said nothing wrong and what was looking like a possible start of a front side passenger wheel bearing failure) the engine decided that it really wanted a holiday and threw a con rod with no warning whilst driving at 35mph.
Nissan's reaction to this was "not our problem, but we demand to take away the engine for free" and no goodwill compensation for premature failure of the engine. Have sworn to self, will never touch another Nissan again.
