The Simca was a French Chrysler Horizon and they had a bad name too.
It was powered by the Chrysler casternette engine. You heard the tappet noise and it was not difficult to predict that one would pass by a few minutes later. It never broke down because if it stopped it would have dropped a stitch in its sewing machine motor.
The bike story reminds me of the story my mother used to tell me about her friend whom had the coffin separate from the bike while cornering while she was pestering me not to get a bike.
Wartbugs just has a very low resale value and were not that much worse than some 1970s British cars.
The best eastern block car was the last Schoda before VW took over.
They had nice long struts for getting over sleeping policemen at speed like the 2CV.
