Hello Colin, sound as though your lathe speed control board needs attention. There has been a lot of discusion about these boards on Model Engineering site. I've changed one on Chester and another on a similar machine several years ago. I found out that one the Mosfets had failed, bringing down the others, I got 3 or maybe 4 can't remember which and replaced as necessary. The Chester wasn't that old, and after a bit of discussion it was replaced, it had just 4 wires attached and when the new one arrived it had different coloured wires. I fortunately did mark and record all details before removing the wires.Later my friend got a phone call asking did we get the lathe working and could they have wiring details.Ted
