Interesting that the cartridges are empty Mark. Programs that squeeze a bit more out of ones you cant see into, often produce a ruined print. Like aerosols getting right to the bottom usually doesn't work ... sputters and the like. But I like the idea of the transparent cartridge and will look at Cannon just for that , assuming they still do them that way, if I need a replacement printer.
Yes! you can get usually inferior prints from a shop or online but that's no good if you are making say a dial for a radio: iterations are needed in the development process. It will still be a cheap dial compared to buying one which normally you cant.
As you say the motto is: "PAY OR DONT PLAY!. No ones forcing anyone to have a colour ink jet.
Yep! Draft mode is useful. Don't know what Epson model you had but mines quick enough, takes longer at high res on best quality of course. I think 6 colour ones are quicker in this mode.
