Thanks for the pic. of an SLF variable cap.: I may have one of those in my collection: I now know what to look for.
The others in your subsequent post look like log. law variables to me. I have a couple of single-gang types which look like that and which I am fiddling around with right now. IIRC, The National HRO comms. receiver used that type: 4-gang.
