Yes, Col, there may be a market for recycled ink cartridges, but from the manufacturers' viewpoint, the profits so generated by that operation would make it uneconomic - assuming that they made any profit at all by doing that! However, by pricing their cartridges at a level which encourages buyers to purchase a replacement printer + cartridges, when the original cartridges have expired, does enable the manufacturers to make a profit - and most likely, a much greater one. Hence, from a manufacturer's viewpoint, they have "got their act together!"
