For schematics and PCB layout, I am trying the freeware lite edition of Eagle, available here: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-eagle...anguage=en
As ever, it is a steep learning curve, but worth it in the long run, if many schematics and boards are to be attempted. They have an extensive library of device outlines and pinouts too.
