I don't think it was a mantle clock as the pendulum is about 10 inches (guess) long
I'll measure it tomorrow. The chimes consist of a a hammer and a spring attached to a thick cast plate which appears to have been hung off something, Ill post some pics of the chime bits and pendulum tomorrow. It chimes on the half hour (once) and multiples on the hour. It still worked very well about 10 years ago. It needs a good clean now after major house renovation and multiple moves it's picked up a lot of crud. The face is made of black marble with copper and brass surrounds and the glass is quite thick and flat. When I had it in pieces there were some signs of repair signatures etc under the face but I can't remember if there were dates. the construction is quite good and from file marks appears to be hand made
