I thought you would be interested in this Lorch David owning one of these lovely lathes yourself.

It's sad when someone will buy a lathe such as this just for monetary gain but then dealers do just that; I would bet the Italian guy made quite a profit because this Lorch is exceptional. It would be most welcome in my workshop.

I remember your Lorch very well David having seen it when you kindly brought it along to show me. Since then you've made a superb job of cleaning it and getting it running so now you have a very useful lathe.

If you had a bigger lathe as well David and the interest to do it you could make a lot of accessories to fit your Lorch; such work is a fascinating hobby in its own right.

Using a skew chisel to turn brass isn't my idea of fun; brass is wonderful material to turn but the downside is that the waste peels away as razor sharp shards and for this reason I dislike turning brass as I always end up with a shard embedded in one of my fingers giving me electric shocks every time I touch something; brass also messes the lathe up getting everywhere. I also dislike turning Stainless steel as the waste peels away in white hot ribbons.

Like you David I couldn't do with distracting background noises like clocks ticking or chiming however I do like to play my favourite sixties songs whilst in the garage or workshop.

Perhaps David you would care to add a couple of pictures of your Lorch in order to compare and they would be relevant to this thread?
