In Op. Drumbeat the U boat crews often believed there were lucky Captains or certainly ones that took less risks. Some were thought to be after more awards and then of course there were some that had more experience.

Hi Gary, Gustave Poel was the captain of U413, they had been lurking around the Bristol Channel when HMS Warwick was sunk by that U boat, there was a gap in the mine field just offshore which the allies used, it is possible that the U boats knew about this and used it to their advantage.
It was a close shave with Doenitz and his U boat fleet, he came very close to starving this country out of raw materials.
