Router lathe

Hi,

Thanks for adding this video Gary. Its good to see a young guy using his head and hands in this manner.

When a lathe and router are mentioned together I always think about the "Router Crafter" as seen in action here;

A lathe I've only ever seen in action once in 50 years is the "back knife lathe". It's many years ago I saw one of these lathes producing stair spindles at speed; the knife was arranged to the rear of the lathe and worked just like a tapered guillotine; the knife had the profile of the work it was to produce and as it lowered into the revolving timber it quickly and very efficiently removed the waste in one stroke; most impressive and I'll try to find details. I think I saw this lathe on The New Yankee Workshop?

I've just surfed the web and found a number of websites covering back knife lathes and I'm pleased to include two; one of which is a video showing one of these lathes in action.
