It always takes longer when you dont have any info. I always look out for earth loops and have run some of the separate items without a mains earth letting it get to them by the screened outer braid of signal cables. Can cut the hum down to minimal.

Long time since I played with valve amps ... think that split load A-K phaser was fairly comon.
