Tight mechanical tolerances in 1TB+ drives mean that once dropped, the mechanical head system alignment is probably damaged beyond repair.
If you've opened the sealed platters by removing the lid, then you might as well throw it away anyway.
You should *never* do that as it was manufactured in a clean air environment for good reason, as even the smallest speck of dust will damage the magnetic surfaces.
