Yorkie: "He can't, but that isn't confined to newly licensed amateurs - few radio amateurs, however long they've been licensed, have the competence or the test gear to be sure of that - I doubt it will ever cross their minds".
Hmm, interesting. So, have the licence conditions changed then? I am under the impression that having 'suitable equipment' to check (even if approximately) the frequency / frequencies of one's radiated signals was a condition of the licence, plus the occasional use of that 'equipment' for that purpose - and recording the results.
And as for 'the equipment' to meet that licence requirement, surely any Amateur Radio operator can assemble & use a simple absorption wavemeter, or failing that, even buy a ready-made & manufactured item?
So, has that part of the licence conditions now been deleted?
