I've had a look at the radio Rob, and to get the pointer into position you have to remove the two decorative brass screws that hold the tuning dial in place, then just hook the pointer under the dial backplate and refit the dial. I've attached a few pics which show the dial removed, close-ups of the knobs, and the dial re-fitted. The tuning knob and wavechage lever are unique to this set - the castelated lever engages with the mating wavechange lever, so it's not simply a question of finding a couple of knobs that look to be a reasonable match. The knob for the on/off switch and volume control has a little plastic spacer disc to match the wavechange lever. I've shown the underside and upper side of the knobs, so I hope that clarifies the arrangement.
