Hi,
What an attractive set Jim. very well done it would enhance any radio collection.
I think it possible that you've broken new ground on this forum with your choice of finish. Water based wiping polyurethane isn't a finish commonly chosen but it looks excellent and being a surface finish it can always be removed in years to come for future restoring without damaging the cabinet.
Polyurethane varnish is a very tough finish and highly suitable for areas receiving a lot of handling or wear; I chose this finish for my new computer desk and so far it still looks like brand new.
It's interesting to compare finishes. Gary prefers spray lacquer, I prefer shellac and you use polyurethane. Others take the easy option of Danish Oil but this is a penetrating finish. Whatever finish is chosen is correct because it is up to the owner of a cabinet as to what is done with it.
Lacquer; shellac and varnish are all top class finishing mediums and suitable for radio restorations.
Thanks for sharing Jim.
Kind regards, Col.

Happiness is a wreck of a cabinet to restore.
