Well if we're off the technicalites of the MM and onto songs you can sing along to, the 70s spawned a lot of songs you couldn’t help but sing along to. Especially memorable for me (not least because of the girl with the gap in her teeth, who I found quite appealing in a ‘not very pretty’ sort of way!), was ‘Mississippi’ by the Dutch band Pussycat. The band was driven by the three Kowalczyk sisters: Tonny, Betty and Marianne. Prior to forming the band, the sisters were telephone operators in Limburg. In 1975 they scored a big European hit with the song "Mississippi”. However they had to wait a further year for the single to make the British charts when it climbed to number one in the UK Singles Chart in October 1976. It's estimated that "Mississippi" sold over five million copies worldwide.
This version was recorded in 1991 - it's a bit more 'leggy' than the TOTP version. What's not to like?
