Unfortunately the BBC and others usually ask the Props Dept. for Bows and get issued with ones more suitable for Cowboys and Indians.
'Longbow: A Social and Military History', written by Robert Hardy, is fascinating, although it concentrates more on the History than the practicalities and history of making them.
