There seems to be a gremlin going around the house at the moment. No.2 office PC (the backup) developed a nasty fault a couple of days ago in which it could not find the FDD, was slow in operation and kept turning itself off. Taking all the cards and MB out, having a brush around and a re-assemble appears to have sorted that out. Then the router went on the fritz so something appears to be on the loose in the house.
I agree, five years operation without a break other than the occasional power cut, running warm in a warm environment, is pretty good going. One plus point in getting a new unit is that the wireless N standard appears pretty well established now and I have at least two laptops in the house that can utilise N. What to got for? Well another Belkin would be idea, having not used DLink before. Dennis has been using DLink for years but even he has off days with the blasted things. Tough choice.
