Hi,
Thanks Big Al, a couple of Piranha's might just squeeze in?
I've now cracked Gimp2 using Win7 64 bit after posting the above picture successfully.
Using Gimp with XP Home edition was very easy indeed; after editing I would simply click on "Save" and when the second box appeared click save again and the picture would be saved in it's original format allowing me to view it and post it without using Gimp again.
However with Win7 when I try to save as before the format of the picture changes to I presume Gimp default it being Gimp XCF image meaning each time I want to open the picture in future Gimp loads first and this morning I've been trying to get around this.
I've now found if I "Export" or "Export to" in the box marked "All images" I can click on the small arrow which opens a drop down box giving lots of file options including JPEG; Photoshop and even PDF. I can then save the image without problem and re-open it without recourse to using Gimp.
Sounds easy now but when something is done the same way for a number of years then a new OS used which is totally different a steep learning curve is generated.
I'm sure many people have been caught out by transferring to Win7 64bit; Gimp alone has generated a lot of discussion on the web so no doubt other common programs will present similar problems. I do feel easier though after cracking Gimp because I've now gained a bit of valuable experience in using Win7. Apparently Win7 32bit is much user friendly regarding older programs?
When are you visiting to feed the Piranha's Alan?
Kind regards, Col.
