Hi,
Boy I'm having fun with my new computer. Running Win7 is giving me lots of problems as many of my old programs successfully used with XP simply do not work with Win7. It's possible the programs will work by adjusting settings but it's taking time.
Many thanks to David for sending me information covering this problem with links which I've been looking at this morning.
One program was the free Gimp2 which I've used a lot over the years for picture editing and I've spent ages trying to add a picture of my new computer onto this forum.
Using Win7 everything is so different; I'm certainly not complaining but having opted for the 64 bit version I'm having to learn so much which in itself is interesting.
I've just spent over an hour playing with Gimp and hopefully I've now found out how to use it in Win7? I tried posting the picture yesterday but it was rejected as the file format was not recognized? Hopefully I've now found out how to convert it to jpeg; Gimp is performing very well using Win7 but the problem was in saving to a different format; easy for an expert but not for a novice like me.
I've also been looking at some of the pictures I've saved and I'm amazed by the difference in quality over my old computer; they now look superb no doubt due to the much better graphics card.
I am getting used to looking for Win7 64bit programs to use and I think given a bit more time I'll settle with Win7.
This new computer case is certainly modern and would look at home in an amusement arcade; it's lit up like Blackpool Illuminations; not just to the front but one side is glazed in clear plastic allowing the "works" to be seen and this too is fully lit up as can be seen by the glare on the left hand side reflecting from the desk. At first I thought this rather distracting but I'm coming to like it as it makes a change from the standard bland looking box.
Kind regards, Col.

Happiness is a wreck of a cabinet to restore.
