Hi,
Thanks Andy. Vista didn't seem to last long?
No problem Gary, I don't think I'll bother with Windows Live Mail; I did like using Outlook express though as it was so easy to navigate and add pictures etc. The price of progress?
Thanks David; all information is welcome as many like me who have owned a computer for a lot of years will reach the point of buying a new computer and its amazing how things change.
I tried loading Mozilla Thunderbird from your link David but for some reason I'm blocked at the last hurdle? I've even typed in my current email details regarding pop3 etc but it hasn't worked. I wanted to retain my original email address.
I'm currently using Virgin email because this is default with me using Virgin (Ntl) cable; Virgin email isn't a problem it's just that I became so used to the layout of Outlook express.
I'm not fussy as to what I use as long as I can get along with it; I've got used to Google Chrome and have been using this for some time; I volunteered to use Google Chrome shortly after it came out so I've no issues about being pestered to install it.
I actually like Google Chrome because it is fast; I can open a "new tab" very easily and if I'm logging onto something private like on-line banking I have the option of going "Incognito". Selecting incognito I see;
"You've gone incognito" and a message box appears with a warning;
Pages viewed in this window won't appear in my browser history or search history and they won't leave other traces like cookies on my computer after I close all open incognito windows. Any files; downloads or bookmarks I create will be preserved.
Going incognito won't stop websites collecting or sharing information about me. ISP's or employers that track the pages I visit. Malicious software that tracks keystrokes in exchange for smileys or people standing behind me.
Google Chrome works for me but as David says we take our choice and what suits one might not suit another.
I've not spent much time using this new computer yet but already I'm very impressed by how fast it is; the sci-fi look of the case lit up is strange but I'm slowly getting used to it.
Kind regards, Col.
