Hi,
WOW; a new computer certainly speeds things up a great deal. I upgraded my old computer over six years ago and believe at that time spent £380.
As stated on another thread I bought this new computer from Vibox using eBay. With around 700 of these already sold and Vibox retaining excellent feed-back I thought I must be safe; for so many to be sold if it was a bad or poor computer the feed-back score would have plummeted.
This morning I was sent an email from Vibox advising of a delivery window of one hour at dinner time today. Five minutes into the hour the computer was with me. So far I'm delighted with Vibox; brilliant communication; brilliant service; brilliant delivery and above all brilliant computer for the money.
I had paid via PayPal and I also ordered Win7 64bit at the same time so I paid an extra £85 to cover this. Vibox emailed to inform me that my computer would show despatched but in fact would remain with them for up to 48 hours due to their rigerous testing and that once it was tested I would receive clear delivery instructions.
The computer was double boxed and everything expected was included.
I must confess I expected problems in setting it all up so unpacked the computer and connected all the cables leaving the Ethernet cable un-connected.
A few minutes later I powered up and thought here I go as the monitor was dead? A quick look through the small manual revealed that if a graphics card has been istalled the monitor needs connecting directly to the graphics card socket.
With this done it immediately burst into life.
Previously I've had to spend time loading the OS (Win 98 & Win XP); motherboard drivers and play around connecting to the Internet. I'm on cable so I used to use a Virgin CD to connect to the Internet and also to connect up for email. Using the CD I always had to leave the Ethernet cable un-connected until prompted to connect it. I expected lots of problems.
With this new computer I did use the Virgin CD but it took less than a couple of minutes to connect up and I wasn't even troubled playing around with the Ethernet cable it was extremely simple.
Vibox had already installed Win7 64bit and the motherboard drivers etc in fact this computer was virtually as easy as plug and play. I still need to sort out my favourite email but at the moment am using Virgin Media email and I need to install my own programs but I'm amazed just how quickly the computer was up and running.
Win7 is rather strange but then it is new to me; I tried to watch a "you Tube" video but it didn't play so I need to check this but think it will be something I need to do rather than a problem.
At first I was dead against buying a computer through eBay in case something went wrong but what a delightful experience it turned out to be. Absolutely no hassle just order; pay and sit back.
Compared to my old computer this one is rapid; things happen when I press keys; boot up/down is much quicker and to put Gary's mind at rest the cooling fan isn't quiet but quiet enough not to trouble me.
The case is lit up like Blackpool illuminatons and one side panel is clear allowing "the works" to be viewed.
I'll soon settle down with it but what an improvement.
Kind regards, Col.
