'Electric' watches are, of course, banned in Coal Mines. However, mechanical ones aren't, and I always wore my favourite Seiko automatic. One day I went into the Pit to do something on the face. I knew that one of the pins at the end of the bracelet was dodgy, but it appeared to be holding out. Having done the job I came off the face and glanced down - no watch, and of course the face had moved up a few yards by this time.
Somewhere 1,000 yards under Yorkshire is my favourite Seiko, squashed
