There's nothing on AM I want to listen to, apart from Test Match Special, and it's nice to get some use out of things.
If I were to do it I'd make sure it was in a way that could easily be reversed: I wouldn't be drilling holes in the case or anything silly.
Each to there own and all that but isn't this quest for 'authenticity' in itself unauthentic as back in the day things would have been modified as needs changed. I'm not just taking about radios but anything that's preserved. Personally I'm not keen on re-stuffing capacitors &c, though will have a go just for the fun of it, because I don't have a problem with an honest repair.
It's a fuzzy line what you change and what you leave and I don't work to any hard and fast rule but I'd rather alter something slightly, be it on the grounds of utility or safety, so that it can be used than leave it alone but stood idle.
I can't see myself getting this set for the sort of sum I'm willing to pay but would still appreciate an answer re the nuts and bolts.
Cheers
