Happy birthday Joe!
I can think of better radios to hook up a gram to.
Frankly the idea of having external connections going into what is potentially a live chassis radio is quite hazardous and I would not recommend it.
You would ideally need some switching to select gram or radio.
Some sets had no switching and required you to tune to a quiet part of the band.
If you were to use a transformer for isolating the input from the gram then it would need to be able to withstand mains voltage - i.e. if the chassis got connected to live rather than neutral.
Also what type of pickup would you be using in the gram? It would have to be matched to the impedance of the transformer in order for the signal to be of the right amplitude to drive the EBC33.
You could, however, get a low power AM transmitter (for home use) and connect the gram into that. Then all you need to do is tune the radio to the transmitter output frequency and you can hear your gram that way just like tuning into a radio station.
Hope that is of some help
Andy
