Hi,
You are most welcome Gary. I've never owned a vehicle with air con so confess I didn't even know a compressor was used for the purpose.
I did surf eBay regarding lathe clutches and was rather taken aback when I found Myford lathe clutches on auction with prices around £200 and the auction was still running. Such prices bring tears to my eyes so I wanted a cheap alternative.
If ever it stops raining when I pull the car out and turns warm I intend to visit a number of local garages and ask if they have any scrap air con compressors I can buy cheaply. It's usually the compressor which fails but even if not garages replace the entire unit. One thing I watch out for is clutches with a single "V" pulley not the type driven by a wide belt with multiple "V"s.
I've made quite a bit of progress but had to stop due to our dire climate; I hate dressing up like an Eskimo to collect a tool from the garage. I'll post details of the clutch mounting adapter I've turned from steel in the near future. Whilst it's so cold I'm practicing with CAD.
Kind regards, Col.

Happiness is a wreck of a cabinet to restore.
