That's dashed good of you, Col. "All is grist that cometh to my mill" and I'm sure that I'll use it in either whole or part.
Actually, I've got just the place for it: The corner of the back room where the television used to be as it'll be ideal for watching videos and playing music on.
Sometimes I feel I'm running my own version of FreeCycle as I often acquire things that somebody no longer wants and then pass them on to a third party. Along with "Make do and mend" the other tenant of my philosophy is "Waste not, want not."
I steer a middle course with the tool or toy thing and fiddling about with it will be fun, just so long as it behaves most of the time.
Funnily enough one of the types of graphics cards which has been mentioned herein seemed a bit familiar so I switched my old 98se machine on to have a look what it had got. It wouldn't switch on. I don't mean in failed to boot - there was no action apart from a bit of blinking of the power LED. Apart from a bit of dark muttering about whoever it was who decided to stop putting nice big orange switches on the side it didn't bother me. I've got a spare PSU but even I didn't think it's worth the effort of changing it.
On top of that I was viewing an auction earlier which has got a flat screen TV with a VGA input and I'd left a low bid on that which I've just upped a bit. I have got spare monitors but they are only small and with the resolution set high enough so that things fit on the screen without a load of side-ways scrolling it's too small to see.
