the ipod will not be damaged by feeding a high z input.
may be a 0.001mf cap between the top of the volume controle to earth may stop radio break through?
47k is the value i normaly use to connect ipode to the gram input of valve radios .
the reason is i just happend to have some handy the first time i did it as it worked well i have not experimented with other values.
be cause its a valve stage you dont have to worry about upsetting the dc conditions.
but check that the dc blocking cap (audio coupling cap) is on the other side of the volume control as you dont want +dc on the grid of a valve
