Many thanks. I'm not disheartened but this does appear as Joe put it, one that just doesn't want to be restored (although I am learning oodles from this one).
Just one point though - should C51 just be a 0.05uf tubular cap which it was before I replaced it with a mains suppression cap!! Therefore I could put the cap thats in c51 at present in there (or probably not as you are suggesting!)
