I found something very similar to your Venner modules in the old IBM nixie clock I restored a few years ago - see https://picasaweb.google.com/10162697561...0236027474 - note the row of black modules with wires coming out - they were sealed but I opened one with a bit of "due diligence"... The other photos in the set show alternate views...

These modules can be opened, but seem to have similar functionality...
