You're right Alan - I was confusing it with a Ferranti that I was given by my Nephew at the same time as the Fenman1. I covered the electrics aspect of the Ferranti restoration at this thread, where I referred to the permeability tuning aspects:

I finished restoring the chassis of the Fenman1 last winter, apart from the cabinet. I stripped the cabinet because the side of the Fenman1 are painted black and look a bit out of keeping. I decided to French polish it as a it of a challenge, rather than use Danish oil, albeit neither finish was used for radio cabinets to my knowledge - they were generally finished with toner and sprayed on lacquer. I wasn't happy with my efforts on the top of the cabinet, so waited till the weather was warmer. However, the predictable happened - summer came and went, other priorities took over, and the cabinet still languishes, awaiting attention. The Fenman1 is nothing to shout about, but I enjoyed restoring it.
