No, you haven't Lawrence. It works which is all I'm bothered about. Even as it's rigged at present it's playing fast and loose with the LM317's rating and a 'proper' doubler would be asking for trouble.
I've got some 50V 1000μF caps on order so when they come, and I get the higher power sense resistors, I'll look at that PSU properly.
My the way, why do we call them "1000μF" capacitors rather than "1mF?" Values like 0.001μF are now usually expressed as 1nF so why doesn't the same logic apply to bigger ones? I always said the Jar was a more sensibly sized unit.
