After the PCR debacle I've got my mojo back a bit by tackling a nice friendly Bush.
This is a SUG26 which I've had for a few months but hardly looked at. I was prompted to do so now in case it needed any bits which I could look out for at Golborne. I already new that somebody had soldered silicon diodes across the EZ40 but wanted to make sure that the EL41s were OK.
They seem to be and changing the waxies in the output part has improved the sound quality. That said it doesn't seem any loader than single-ended sets I've got, which seems to make the push-pull configuration a waste of a valve.
Short Wave seems very lively, Medium Wave poor and Long Wave utterly useless. I suspect that the alignment has been got at as the twiddlers have been labelled and the slots look a bit chewed.
The main job on this set will be re-polishing the cabinet; it was this which attracted me to it in the first place.
