Many thanks David; yes indeed my honing belt did come from across the pond as I simply could not find a supplier in the UK and I spent many hours surfing the web; I even tried to find a supplier of suitable leather as I was prepared to make my own belt; all without the slightest success which at the time was most frustrating.
I eventually found a company in Frisco, Texas and they made a honing belt to my specification.
My leather honing belt cost around 28 USD with 15 USD shipping so it certainly cost more than the whole machine cost to build.
