Some formers are ribbed - others are plain and close-wound. As it's handy having the finger pull to remove and insert the coils, I'll probably strip them and use them for a replica vintage 'Hikers' Two' (when I get a round tuit!), for which I have gathered most of the parts including the valves over time. It's odd they way that such things as vintage coil formers are often sought after, but equally so, sometimes don't find a market. EG this one received no bids:
