Wrong radio gear in films documentries etc seems to be quite common, I remember seeing a Landrover in a WW2 film once, but in the case of pure films then hey...it's not real anyway.
As regards the R1155 reciever and many others I guess they lasted so long because most of them were never actually used during the war me thinks.
The wartime military receivers were built like tanks, especially a lot of the American ones, I suppose with lend lease all signed up and in the bag the Yanks were conducting a lot of their equipement R&D out at our expense, quite a clever investment really.
