I've dispensed with the Jubilee clip and made my own clamp. Not only is the tighter but it can be adjusted without resort to a spanner or screw-driver.
Drilling the hole through the brass spacer on the lathe was a delight after twenty-odd years of stuggling to do such things free-hand.
