I them finished them off with three coats of thin shellac.
The other bits of the pen were quite simply pressed into place using the vice with bits of wood stuck to the jaws with double sided tape and that was about it.
I don't deny that the pusser kit would make things much easier but would also reduce the interest and sense of achievement.
