Maybe it's my old ears, but I've got a TR82/97, and although I don't use it, it sounds quite respectable to me on all bands. But then my Pure Evoke DAB radio sounds fine to me too, despite many people denigrating DAB.

As you are aware David, I've got the full 15 model series as regards the MB60/TR82/VTR103 portables, and the TR82/97 isn't a patch on any of them. But then again it was never mean't to be, it is a modern reproduction copy after all.

I also have a TR82DAB, which is basically a TR82/97 with a DAB board built in as well, the entire top panel having been turned over to this with a blue LCD display and numerous push buttons. I only use the set for DAB, but I can honestly say it is really quite good!
