Anti-log Pot track puzzler?

Had it not have been for the faint markings saying it was antli-log, I'd have asumed that it was a log pot like a normal volume control but it doubles as the reaction control, though you wouldn't know it as you don't have to twiddle it till the set just oscillates and then back it off, as was the case with a standard TRF. I'm sure you're familiar with the operation of the control as I think you have a little Champion TRF set. There was probably more than meets the eye to the design and theory of these sets, which were obviously designed to be similar in operation from the user's point of view as a superhet, but without the added complexity of an IF stage.

Back in the 1950s in PW, similar such TRF sets were advertised by surplus stores in kit form - no doubt end of line stocks when firms stopped making them.

Never mind about the Jubilee malarkey - you've got enough on your plate with the Olympics!
