Hi,
The desk top section is almost finished just requiring more coats of varnish. The three drawers were time consuming to make then hand fit into their respective openings. With the drawers sliding nicely Formica was then added to their fronts and routed using a flush cutting bit. The router bit leaves a razor sharp edge on Formica so the edges were softened using abrasive paper.
Drawers fitted and Formica added.
At last I was happy to remove the protective film from the Formica revealing its beauty. Time was spent dusting everything down then masking tape was added around the Formica panels and the first coat of Matt Polyurethane Varnish was laid on with a brush. Two more coats of varnish will be applied then the 13A sockets will be fitted before bringing the top into the bungalow out of harms way.
One coat of varnish applied to the oak framework.
It's looking good so far and certainly built to last many years.
