Thanks for the link Joe - I see that they're plastic bodied rather than metal - I wonder if they're 'dismantlable' and 're-assmbleable' to get at the track?
Not a big budget item so I might have a punt on one!
As to liking the dropper, at the moment it's just an ornament - the acid test is whether or not it works and keeps working! I've got an infra-red digitial thermometer so I can check to see if the temperature remains low and stable. I bent the original heat shield up vertically so have left it in place, and the new heat sink uses the same chassis holes as did the end brackets of the original dropper so I haven't had to 'butcher' the chassis.
