Hi Col,
Here are my two cents worth of information. I am of the opinion that a personal computer should be like a comfy chair or an old pair of shoes. Replace your old desktop with one that feels "comfortable" to you. Later, you can add a sporty used laptop to your stable when you want to be more mobile.
