I've noted that someone has cut my aerial off.
How long should this be and will it be ok to use 24/0.2 cable for this?

Do you have the former still in the slot on which the 'throw-out' aerial was wound Rob? If so, I'd say just wind enough flex wire around the former to fill it - it isn't critical. I assume that the former was just a piece of thin plywood - I don't know if anyone can throw any light on that? I've got the same model awaiting attention - it too has a mains transformer rather than a line cord, and I assumed that it was pre-war due to the lack of the Third Prog, but from what Tony says it must have been produced just after the war. I've attached a few pics including one which shows the aerial 'slots' under the top of the cabinet into which the aerial is stowed. I'd previously mentioned on the forum in another thread that the back on mine was in such a sorry state that I made a router jig, with which I made a new back for it, (which awaits being finished) but other more pressing projects such as erecting a new fence have got in the way, so the restoration has stalled
