I'd recommend a laser printer. Much faster, cheaper running costs, will always print onto acetate. How often do we really need colour anyway? BTW, For colour, I use a Canon MP800 multifunction device which hasn't missed a beat in 8 years.
Laser printers can be had for around £50 new, or less second-hand. I'm lucky in that mine came from a skip and worked perfectly after being cleaned - and we're still running with the toner cartridge found in there. I've always had good experiences with HP laser printers, although perhaps less so with their inkjet models.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt with Epson printers. Wouldn't consider one again. Can't recommend Canon inkjets highly enough though...
