Thanks, Col - much appreciated. As for Bakelite, I see a broken cabinet as a challenge rather than a delight! I've just completed another video sequence showing a Major Maestro cabinet repair but for fear of boring folks, I'll hold it back awhile.
The important thing here I believe is to 'have a go'. Nothing is impossible, up to now... well, just about. And that reminds me of a time when I was being interviewed for the job of a TV engineer. At the time I lacked any trade knowledge or experience, and was equipped only with my amateur grasp of the subject. I was asked 'What makes you think you can repair television sets?' (a fair question under the circumstances). I replied to the effect that up until that point in my life I'd never come across a set I'd been unable to fix!
I got the job, but only after having to prove my ability. Obviously I have one of thos mistrustful type faces!
