Really good news and I'm so pleased for you that these rare old lathes will soon be up and running.
As you are aware that I recently bought a Myford ML1 (possibly an early ML2) that is at least 70 years old and 'appears' not to have had too much use. In my case (as you aware) the problem does not lie with the bed but how I am going to successfully transfer power from the motor to the lathe as it uses a flat belt arrangement but I have no counter pulley that was supplied with this lathe.
Ho hum...but as you indicate, that all part of rebuild, restore process - we all like a good challenge now and again.
I also agree that its worth doing these types of projects slowly too.
