My new toy.

I've been a dinosaur for long enough so I've embraced a bit of modern technology. My chum David (Yorkie) takes great pleasure from using his power washer and as I've wanted one for years but had no where to store could only dream of owning one. Recently I've had a clear out in both garage and workshop so I've splashed out on a brand new Nilfisk C120 3 power washer which comes with a number of attachments.

I bought this through eBay costing £89.99 delivered saving £100 on RRP. Boy: I can now see why you love playing with your power washer David; it is a superb toy to have. I still thought a hose pipe connected to a suitable tap secured with a Jubilee clip was OK until I wanted to connect the washer. it's all changed now with quick release couplings and one way valves.

Yesterday afternoon I visited our local huge B&Q depot to buy the connectors; after searching the plumbing section without luck I enquired of an assistant where I might find them; I should have known they would be at the other end of the store in the gardening section. It was extremely gloomy in the gardening section as I tried to make sense of what I needed; then a garbled message come over the public address followed by the fire alarms going off. In the gloom with the alarms sounding I though I'd be smart and seek assistance so I set off for the help desk; at the help desk there was a gate across stating staff only.

So round at Wickes I went straight to the help desk and within a minute a guy was walking me down the store and demonstrated the connectors selecting which I would need to connect the washer to our water supply; almost £10 later I was on my way home.

I had taken along a male connector known to fit the tap in the garage; things didn't improve much because when I tried to connect to the cold water tap I found the thread diameter to be smaller? The tap was different to the hot water tap I had removed the connector from. Not to worry because I was informed that these new connectors have an adaptor; the adaptor didn't fit!!

The hose was secured to the cold water tap with a Jubilee clip and the washer hooked up with one of the new plastic connectors with the one way valve. At last I could plug it in and get cracking. The three pin 13A plug refused to enter the wall socket. I've never seen a plug with an earth pin at an angle pointed towards neutral and live.

With a change of plugs at last water and power was on. What a fiasco so far. The simplest things soon get out of my control. However I was much cheered by the sheer power of this washer and it was a joy to use; David is right when he says he could use his all day because I feel the same way. I managed to power wash the drive and part of the path to the side of the bungalow yesterday. This morning I was so keen that I was outside blasting dirt away just after 8am. My luck held out as usual because as soon as I got everything set up it began to rain but didn't stop me. I've just finished and what a tremendous difference the washer has made to our paths; patio and dry stone walling. The 3' x 2' flags have come up better than new and next job will be to blast all the algae and moss from the roof (Bungalow).

Thank you David for prompting me into buying a power washer it has quickly become a favourite toy to play with. I think the pictures tell the story better than text.
